Kamal Haasan starrer Thoongavanam stars Kamal Haasan as a narcotics police officer. The running time of the movie is just 1.38 hours. (98 minutes). Produced by Rajkamal Films International, Thoongavanam stars Prakashraj, Trisha, Kishore, Yuhi Sethu among others in the cast. Music is by Ghibran.
Kamal Haasan’s assistant Rajesh helms the affairs. Thoongavanam is a neo – noircrime thriller movie which is made in bilingual languages Tamil and Telugu. Whereas, Telugu it has been titled as ‘Cheekati Rajyam’ with the same cast. The film is a remake of the 2011 French movie ‘Sleepless night’.
In the movie, Kamal had played as a police officer who would do anything formoney. On this stage, the actor Prakash Raj who is doing smuggling with expensive drugs, has been deprived by Kamal and was kept in the secret place. Meanwhile, the actress Trisha, who is playing as another Police officer saw this incident.
The story interestingly goes as that the actor Prakash Raj had kidnapped Kamal’s son for stealing his drug products. On this stage, Kamal is taking steps to protect his son from the antagonist.
The next suspense of the story goes like when he goes and sees in the secret place the drugs is not there, where is the drugs? Who stole that? Will Trisha helps his colleague Kamal? The movie is of on whole an action thriller movie, which brings out the story of the famous French movie ‘Sleepless Night’.
The characterization was sketched neatly by the director Rajesh M Selva. After back to back sentiment movies like ‘Uttama Villain’, ‘Paapanasam’ actor Kamal has come out with an action sequence through this movie ‘Thoongavanam’. The actress Trisha’s role is a challenging one and this is to be the first time she plays as a brave police officer. It is also said that she has taken lot of effort in this action sequence. While Asha sarath, Kishore had done a good job in the movie.
The Background score was excellently done by Ghibran. Cinematography was awesome and the editing in with best transition while the stunt choreography is marvelous. Overall, the movie is worth watching with the family and doesn’t stop anywhere from getting board.
